Hadees | Hajj
---------------------------------------------------------------

Hajj is obligatory once in a lifetime for every Muslim who:
Is an adult and of sound mind.
Is physically capable of travelling and performing the rites of Hajj.
Can afford the expenses of travel, accommodation, and return.
Can leave sufficient funds for the essential needs of their dependants.
Has enough money for Hajj after paying debts and meeting basic needs.
Has a safe route and is able to reach Makkah.
Allah Almighty says:
“Pilgrimage to this House is an obligation owed to Allah by whoever is able to undertake it.”
Surah Aal-e-Imran, 3:97
Hajj is not obligatory for a person who lacks the necessary financial or physical ability. A child’s Hajj is valid and rewarded, but after reaching adulthood, the obligatory Hajj must be performed if the person has the means to do so.
There is a detailed difference of opinion among Islamic jurists concerning a woman travelling for Hajj without a mahram. She should explain her circumstances to a trustworthy local Islamic scholar and seek appropriate guidance.
